A study conducted by the Environmental Working Group indicates that the persons who include non-organic fruits and vegetables in their daily diets are most likely to absorb appreciatively 67 harmful pesticides. While it is clear that fresh foods, especially vegetables and fruits are increasingly beneficial for our overall health than processed foods, you should know that non-organic fruits and vegetables are filled with harmful chemicals as well.

The Environmental Working Group is a non-profit organization that concentrates on promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle. In this regard, they undergone appreciatively 100.000 pesticide reports from the US Department of Agriculture and FDA to conclude which products are loaded with chemicals and which are not.

Pesticides seem to be linked to the occurrence of development issues in children. Some of the most popular pesticides affect the right functioning of the endocrine system and others act as carcinogens. This information was concluded by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Pesticides detrimentally affect the water and the soil. That leads both to erosion and structural soil issues. Specialists indicate that this particular reality is associated with „the colony collapse disorder”, which is a sudden, unexplained death of honeybees.

Can we remove the pesticides?

Unfortunately, no. The tests were carried out on fruits and vegetables that were previously thoroughly washed by the USDA. While some of the pesticides are only on the surface of the fruits and vegetables, others are deeply rooted in the plant itself, though making its removal impossible.

Consequently, we strongly recommend thoroughly washing the fruits and vegetables before you consume them, regardless of the fact that they are organic or not. In this view, specialists  recommend opting for organic products, whenever you have the option.
